What Should be Considered in Taking Vitamins?

Vitamins are molecules that play a crucial role in many physiological events. For this reason, since the human body cannot synthesize some vitamins, they must be obtained from foods. A healthy individual does not need to take vitamins in addition to foods, but in cases that will increase the need for vitamins or in cases where a deficiency is detected, supplementary vitamins may be required. Vitamins should be used according to the physician’s recommendation. It is definitely not right for a person to take vitamins without consulting a physician and/or pharmacist. Taking vitamins unnecessarily can do more harm than good to the body. Vitamins should be used consciously and correctly.

What should you ask the physician and/or pharmacist before using the medicine?

How do I prepare the medicine? (such as diluting, putting into water, shaking, etc.)

  • How will I use the medicine?
  • At what times/how many times will I use the medicine?
  • How long will my medication take?
  • Are there any foods or drinks I should avoid during medication?
  • What should I do if I experience an adverse effect during my treatment?
  • How (under what conditions) should I store my medicine?
